Brewing Methods
Brewing chai is more than a recipe — it’s a ritual. Whether you’re preparing a slow home brew or a barista-style cup, Mother City Chai’s authentic sticky chai makes it simple to pause, breathe, and reconnect.Hand-blended with rooibos, naturally caffeine-free and soothing, our chai invites you to slow down — and leave a little lighter.
Home Rituals:
- Add 5 g (approximately one heaped teaspoon) of Mother City Chai to a small pot with 150 ml of water.
- Bring to a gentle boil for 3 minutes to release the full aroma.
- Add 85 ml of your preferred milk (dairy or plant-based). Gently stir to prevent sticking to the pot.
- Simmer until the first roll of boil appears — then strain through a fine mesh or tea sift.
- Pour into your favourite cup and serve with love.
Barista Method:
- Weigh Mother City Chai to your preference using the Flavour Guide (typically 5–10 g per serve).
- Add chai to 85 ml (⅓ cup) of hot water at 90°C / 200°F — just enough to cover. Let it steep for 3 minutes to unlock the full aroma and spice depth.
- Add 200–250 ml of your preferred milk (dairy or plant-based) and steam until silky and fragrant.
- Pour through a fine mesh or tea strainer into your favourite cup.
Serve with love.
