Our Journey
It was 1947 in the sweltering streets of old Gujarat, India, when our grandmother Bha — a woman of quiet strength — embarked on a voyage that would forever shape her family’s history. Her journey took her to Cape Town, South Africa, where she shared her chai with neighbours, turning strangers into friends and chai into connection.
Three generations later, that her recipe has been lovingly reborn in Melbourne — handcrafted with South Africa’s premium rooibos, authentic spices, and raw honey. Every cup of Mother City Chai carries her spirit of warmth, community, and slow ritual.
